Redmond-Woodinville Road (Red-Wood Road) is a principle arterial, an
important link in the City's transportation system, and part of the
State highway system (SR 202). The study the City has planned for
this corridor is part of the Three Year Priority Action Plan established
in Redmond's Transportation Master Plan (TMP).
What are the intended outcomes of the study?
- to develop a preliminary corridor plan along Redmond-Woodinville Road and 154
Place NE
- to determine appropriate future cross-sections and necessary
right-of-way
- access management
- to provide pedestrian and bicycle facilities as directed in the
TMP
There is a multi-use trail on NE 116 Street east of Redmond-Woodinville
Road. The site for future Fire Station 17 is near NE 116 Street
and 172 Avenue NE. An additional focus of the study will be to
plan for the desired trail and emergency services connections from the
intersection of Redmond-Woodinville Road and NE 116 Street into the valley.
Currently, the TMP calls for a 3-lane roadway from the new 160 Avenue NE
extension (approximately located at NE 106 Street near the Puget Sound
Energy trail) to NE 124 Street, with additional extended right and
left-turn lanes at the intersections. The study will evaluate
future traffic needs on Redmond-Woodinville Road, with and without an extension of
Willows Road to the north, in order to determine the footprint for the
necessary improvements.
