Old Redmond Road from 132 to 140 Avenue NE

Project Cost:
$3.9 million

Funding Source: Capital Investment Program

Project Manager:
Lisa Singer (lsinger@redmond.gov)

Status:
Construction scheduled to begin in September 2006.

Project Description:
Pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle safety will be enhanced on this last remaining section of Old Redmond Road to receive roadway improvements in both Kirkland and Redmond.  Between the Bridle Trails Shopping Center on 132 Avenue NE to the west end of the Sixty-01 Condominiums at about 136 Avenue NE, Old Redmond Road will be widened to include one through lane in each direction, a center turn lane/landscaped median, bike lanes, and sidewalks.  Supporting these improvements will be modifications to storm drainage, landscaping, lighting, roadway striping, and undergrounding of utilities.  To fit the majority of improvements within the right-of-way, rockeries up to about 5 feet high and shorter block walls will be required along most of this section.

There are no plans to change the location of the existing curbs or sidewalks between 136 and 140 Avenue NE.  This section of the roadway will be restriped.  Center turn lanes/medians will be added to provide driveway access and landscaped storm drainage facilities.  A pedestrian crossing is being considered at the existing bus stops located near the west entry to Sixty-01.
