NE 124 Street and SR 202
(Redmond-Woodinville Road)
Project Cost: $6,310,200 ($3,170,000 TIB grant; $2,190,000 developer
contributions;
$250,000 King County funds; $700,000 supplemental impact fees)
Project Manager: Steve Gibbs (sgibbs@redmond.gov)
Project Description: The east leg of the
intersection of NE 124 Street and SR 202 (Redmond-Woodinville Road) experiences
significant delays. Four thru-lanes on the west leg of the intersection are
compressed into two thru-lanes on the east leg, resulting in daily queues of 600
to 1,200 feet on all approaches. Vehicles are consequently unable to take
advantage of the recently completed widened NE 124 Street to the west.
Improvements to this intersection will add two additional thru-lanes to the east
leg of the intersection. A westbound right turn lane will be added for
northbound SR 202 and the left turn lane for westbound NE 124 Street to
southbound SR 202 will also be lengthened to provide more storage and reduce the
back-ups on NE 124 Street. Curb, gutter, planter strip, and sidewalk will be
placed along the eastern leg. Traffic signal modifications will be made to
accommodate the revised channelization.
Design for the improvements at NE 124 Street and SR 202 are being coordinated
with the
Redmond-Woodinville Road Corridor Study,
which extends through this intersection.
