For information about State codes and regulations, check the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and the Washington Administrative Code (WAC) on the Municipal Research and Services Center of Washington web site. Chapter 10.52 of the Redmond Municipal Code (RMC) more fully answers the following questions about stopping, standing, and parking in Redmond. View the Redmond Municipal Code.

How long can I park on a public street?
RMC 10.52.110 states that a vehicle can park on a public street for no longer than 24 hours, after which time it could be considered a traffic safety hazard or reported as abandoned.

Who should I call to have an abandoned vehicle removed from a public street?
Contact Code Enforcement at the City of Redmond. You can reach them by email at codeenforcement@redmond.gov or by calling 425-556-2412.

How can we get “No Parking” signs in our neighborhood?
Parking can be a problem in residential areas, particularly in those neighborhoods near schools, public parks, or athletic fields. Residents need to keep in mind that if parking is prohibited in a neighborhood, restrictions apply to both residents and visitors to the area. If you have a parking problem in your neighborhood, enroll in the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program so the City can work with you towards a solution.

See RMC 10.52.200 for more information about parking signs.

Can residents paint curbs or install signs to prohibit parking?
No. It is illegal for private residents to paint curbs or install signs that prohibit parking. Requests for the City to consider parking restrictions on public streets can be addressed to Public Works/Traffic Operations at pwtrans@redmond.gov.

How close to the curb should I park?
RMC 10.52.030 states that a vehicle should be parked within 12 inches of the curb.
